Your Overlander Profile
Your profile is your identity in the Overlander community. Showcase your experience, achievements, trip history, and connect with fellow overlanders.
Viewing Your Profile
Access your profile from the bottom navigation bar (Profile tab).
Profile Header
The top section displays:
- Profile Photo: Avatar with camera icon for editing
- Display Name: Your chosen username
- Join Date: When you created your account (e.g., "Joined Oct 2024")
- Logout Button: Access in the top right corner

- Statistics (Kilometers, Trips, Places)
- Achievements
- Social stats (Followers and Following)

Editing Your Profile
Customize your profile with personal information, photos, and location.

Profile Fields
Basic Information
- Name: Your display name (required)
- Short Bio: Up to 250 characters describing yourself (optional)
- Email: Contact email address (required)
- Phone Number: Contact phone (required)
Profile Photo
- Tap the camera icon on your avatar to change
- Select from your photo library or take a new photo
- Photo is automatically optimized and resized
- Changes take effect immediately after save
Address Information
- Location Picker: Select your location on an interactive map
- Address Parsing: Automatically fills street, city, state, ZIP, country
- Manual Entry: You can also type address fields directly
- Location Status: Shows "Location set" when coordinates are saved

Share Contact Details Toggle
Important privacy control:
- Enabled: Your contact info and location are visible to other users
- Enabled: You appear on the community map (People tab, Map view)
- Disabled: Contact details remain private
- Disabled: You don't appear on the map

- Tap "Save Profile" button at the bottom
- Saving indicator displays
- Photos are optimized for fast loading
- Success message confirms save completion
- Profile page automatically refreshes

Kilometers Logged
- Value: Total distance traveled on logged trips
- Format: Displayed with comma separators (e.g., "12,450")
- Updates: Automatically calculated from completed trips

- Value: Total number of trips you've participated in
- Tap Action: Opens your complete trip history
- Includes: Created trips and trips you attended
Places
- Value: Number of unique locations you've checked into
- Updates: Increments with each new check-in
- Helps: Shows your exploration breadth
Social Statistics
Displays your community engagement:
Followers
- Number of users following you
- Shows your influence in the community
- Updates in real-time as people follow/unfollow

- Number of users you follow
- Indicates your network size
- Helps you curate your feed content
My Trips History
View and manage all your past and upcoming trips.
Accessing Trip History
- Tap the "Trips" statistic card on your profile
- Or select "My Trips" from the Quick Actions menu
- Opens a dedicated trip history page

Privacy Awareness
Regularly review your privacy settings. What you were comfortable sharing six months ago might differ from your current preferences.

Your profile stats (followers, trips, places) grow naturally through genuine participation. Focus on quality connections and experiences.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I change my display name?
Yes, edit your display name anytime from the profile edit screen. Changes are reflected immediately across the app.
How do achievements update?
Complete the expertise assessment by tapping the settings icon next to Achievements. Based on your responses, badges are automatically awarded.
Can others see my email and phone?
Only if you enable "Share contact details" in your profile settings. This control gives you full privacy over personal information.
What happens to my data if I delete my account?
All personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days. Content you contributed (forum posts, location reviews) may remain but will be anonymized.
Can I have multiple profiles?
No, Overlander uses a one-person-one-account model to maintain trust in the community. Multiple accounts violate terms of service.
How are stats calculated?
Kilometers and places are tracked automatically through trip check-ins. Trip count includes all trips where you were organizer, participant, or observer.
