Understanding the Home Dashboard
The Home Dashboard is your central hub for managing active trips, accessing quick actions, and staying connected with the overlanding community.
Welcome Header
The welcome header greets you by name and provides quick motivation for your next adventure.
- Personalized greeting with your display name
- Motivational tagline: "Ready for your next adventure?"
- Collapses when scrolling down to save screen space
- Expands again when scrolling back to the top
Active Trip Card
The Active Trip card is the most prominent feature on your dashboard, showing your current trip status.
When No Trip is Active
- Displays "None" with subtitle "No active trip"
- Shows "My Trips" button to view all your planned trips
- If you have a trip starting today, shows "Ready to start" with a Start button
Starting a Trip
During an Active Trip
- Shows trip name prominently
- Displays progress: "Day 1", "Day 2", etc., or "Started today"
- "Trip Dashboard" button for detailed trip view
- Real-time updates on trip status
Ending a Trip
When your trip's end date has passed:
- The card shows "Trip ended on [date]"
- An "End Trip" button appears
- Tap to officially complete and archive the trip
- The system checks for other trips starting today automatically

Quick Action cards provide one-tap access to the most common features.

Your Next Adventure Carousel
This section showcases upcoming trips from the community that you might want to join.
Features
- Horizontal scrollable carousel of trip cards
- Shows trip name, dates, and banner photo
- Displays trip type: TRIP, MEET, or SHOW
- Skill level indicator (Beginner to Expert)
- Tap any card to view full trip details
Trip Privacy
- Public Trips: Visible to all users in the carousel
- Private Trips: Only visible to invited participants
- Your own trips appear regardless of privacy settings
Explore Routes Section
Similar to the Adventures carousel, this section highlights popular and featured routes.
What's a Route?
Routes are pre-planned overlanding paths that can be:
- Saved as standalone routes for later use
- Added to trips as part of an itinerary
- Shared with the community
- Marked as public or private
Route Information
Each route card shows:
- Route name and description
- Distance and estimated duration
- Terrain difficulty rating
- Waypoints and points of interest
Community Section
The Community card encourages engagement with fellow overlanders.
What's Included
- Join the Community: Call-to-action message
- Description: "Connect with fellow overlanders, share experiences, and discover new adventures together"
- Explore Button: Takes you to the Friends/Community tab

Latest Updates
The Latest Updates section displays recent forum topics and community discussions.
Features
- Shows 3 most recent forum topics
- Displays topic title and preview text (up to 80 characters)
- Time posted shown as "relative time" (e.g., "2 hours ago")
- Tap any topic to read and participate
- "View all" button to browse all forums
Topic Preview
Each topic shows:
- Topic title
- Content preview
- Time since posted
Notifications
Access notifications from the bell icon in the top-right corner of the dashboard.
Notification Types

| Trip Updates | Changes to trips you're attending | View updated trip details |
| Messages | New chat messages from friends | Open conversation |

| Community | Replies to your forum posts or comments | View and respond |
Managing Notifications
- Unread Count: Shows number of unread notifications
- Mark as Read: Tap any notification to mark it as read
- Clear All: Option to clear all read notifications
- Settings: Customize notification preferences in Profile > Settings
Dashboard Tips
Refresh Content
Pull down on the dashboard to refresh all content including trips, routes, and forum updates.
Simplified View
On initial app launches, the dashboard shows a simplified view without carousels.
Responsive Design
The dashboard automatically adjusts based on your screen size for optimal viewing on phones, tablets, and desktops.
Quick Navigation
Use the "My Trips" button in the Active Trip card for fast access to all your planned and past trips.
